Subject: Morph2, Starfoot Cicada

Classification: Rare Morph, Origin Unknown

At first glance, 'Morph2' appears to be the elusive Blue Moon color morph of the Superb Green Cicada - Neotibicen superbus. However, the size of it and the relative length of its legs give me pause when I even begin to settle on the idea that it is just a naturally occurring anomaly. Secondly, the creature’s post-teneral coloration is assumptively static; Every encounter I have catalogued and archived in my own personal records whether it is my own or another’s describes the same ethereal ghostly, blue-green pigmentation to the body and wings. Such uniformity among encounters would suggest ‘Morph2’ is not a mere morph, but a potentially undiscovered, perhaps even ████████ species of cicada. Here is a photo from a now deleted submission by an anonymous user on the forum website █████ that reads: “What kind of bug is this”? Responses from users ranged from excitement to skepticism; One user wrote: “@mods take this post down, this forum doesn’t tolerate hoaxes”. Regarding its biology, Morph2’ has appendages that end in star shaped pads or feet. From my own encounters I can confirm this, although I have never handled one. Speculation is that the stars bits are hiding more normal cicada tarsi, or that the stars (however fantastical) are the insect’s tarsi entirely. Whatever the case, there is a strong link between Starfoot Cicada and another paranormal entity; there is a sharp increase in Starfoot Cicada sightings preceding sightings of Comet. █████ depicts the closest image of the starfoot Cicada I have ever gotten, is somewhat blurry, but emphasizes the creatures unique tarsi. Out of all the Houston-area strange creatures and anomalies “Morph2” is by far the most prolific in terms of raw encounters.
